MIAA baseball scheduled to get underway this weekend

#19 Central Missouri opens the year at Minute Maid Park 
Record: 0-0, 0-0 MIAA 
Team Stats: Batting Average .327, ERA 4.01
#19 Central Missouri will head to Minute Maid Park in Houston, Tex. to open theseason with four games. At the plate last season Kevin Gratza hit .371 withfour home runs and 42 RBI. On the mound Kurtis Schuyler was 4-4 with 5.01earned run average in 12 starts last season.

Central Oklahoma waits two weeks to open season
Record: 0-0, 0-0 MIAA 
Team Stats: Batting Average .296, ERA 5.30
Central Oklahoma will not open their season until facing Arkansas-Fort Smith athome Feb. 14-16. At the plate last season Cesar Wong hit .358 with a .435 onbase percentage and Matt Johnson hit .315 with 10 home runs and 50 runs battedin. On the mound Mason Justice was 5-2 with a 4.73 earned run average in sixstarts.
 
Emporia State opens season at home in one week
Record: 0-0, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats: Batting Average .290, ERA 4.66
Emporia State opens the season at home Feb. 7-9 against Metro State ofColorado. Last season at the plate Todd Schultz hit .319 with 21 runs driven inand eight doubles. On the mound Kevin Shaffer went 3-3 with a 2.89 ERA whileDakota McKaskle went 6-5 with a 3.39 ERA in 11 starts.

Fort Hays State opens the season at home in one week
Record: 0-0, 0-0 MIAA 
Team Stats: Batting Average .341, ERA 6.70 
Fort Hays State opens 2014 at home Feb. 8-9 against Upper Iowa. At the platelast season Jordan Miller hit .390 with 13 stolen bases and Horace Johnson hit.336 with nine home runs and 34 RBI. On the mound Nathan Briar was 1-1 with a7.66 ERA in 13 appearances.

Lincoln waits for first road trip
Record: 0-0, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats: Batting Average .273, ERA 9.19   
Lincoln opens the season at Oklahoma Panhandle State on Feb. 7-8. At the platelast season Ben Stewart hit .361 with four home runs and 21 RBI. Joe Jungmeyerwas 2-2 with a 5.76 earned run average on the mound last season.

Lindenwood head to Christian Brothers to open season
Record: 0-0, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats: Batting Average .323, ERA 5.30
Lindenwood begins play with a road trip to Christian Brothers. At the platelast year Wade Rothermich hit .349 with 14 doubles and 35 runs driven in. DylanTerrell was 6-6 with a 3.71 ERA in 12 starts on the mound for the Lions.

Missouri Southern  waits for season opener on Feb. 15-16
Record: 0-0, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats: Batting Average .298, ERA 4.34    
Missouri Southern opens their season Feb. 15-16 at home againstMinnesota-Crookston. At the plate last season Tee Helsel hit .294 with 32 runsdriven in. On the mound Payton Walker was 6-5 with a 3.50 earned run average innine starts.

#17 Missouri Western plays four at Harding 
Record: 0-0, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats: Batting Average .361, ERA 4.91
#17 Missouri Western will hit the road to face Harding in a season openingseries. At the plate last season David Chew hit .250 with five home runs and 15RBI in 56 at-bats. On the mound Jerad Hawkins was 6-2 with a 2.28 ERA in 16total appearances, five of which were starts.

Nebraska-Kearney opens the season in Colorado
Record: 0-0, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats: Batting Average .312, ERA 6.52   
Nebraska-Kearney opens the season by traveling to Metro State. In the batter'sbox last season Brandon Landanger hit .364 with 32 runs scored. On the moundJoe Smidt was 4-3 with a 2.73 ERA out of the bullpen.

Northeastern State opens season on Feb. 11
Record: 0-0, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats: Batting Average .309, ERA 6.50
Northeastern State begins play on Feb. 11 at Southeastern Oklahoma State. Atthe plate Cody Robinson hit .308 with 16 home runs and 56 runs batted in. Onthe mound Kyle Shambaugh was 4-2 with a  4.73 earned run average in tenstarts.

Northwest Missouri starts things off in week two
Record: 0-0, 0-0 MIAA 
Team Stats:  Batting Average .295, ERA 5.99
Northwest Missouri will wait to week two to travel to Northwestern OklahomaState.  At the plate last season Ryan Abernathy hit .319 with six homeruns and 34 RBI. On the mound Ryker Fox was 5-5 with a 3.98 earned run average.

Pittsburg State opens season in Oklahoma Feb. 7-8
Record: 0-0, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats:  Batting Average .312, ERA 5.26  
Pittsburg State faces Oklahoma Christian Feb. 7-8 to open the season. At theplate last season Brad Foss hit .379 with 39 runs scored. On the mound GeorgeBrandecker was 6-4 with a 3.27 earned run average in 11 starts.

Southwest Baptist waits for Feb. 21 to play first game
Record: 0-0, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats:  Batting Average .282, ERA 6.58   
Southwest Baptist opens the season at home Feb. 17 against Minnesota-StateMankato. At the plate Spencer Blacksher hit .349 with six home runs and 38 RBI.On the mound Cole Roark was 3-2 with a 6.54 earned run average.

Washburn waits for league play to come around

Team Stats:  Batting Average .280, ERA 7.79  
Washburn will wait for league play to come around on Feb. 21 to begin theirseason. At the plate last season Riley Price hit .370 with 32 RBI and 21 runsscored. On the mound Taylor Gentry was 3-2 with a 4.20 earned run average.

    Authorities search for a vehicle involved in a high-speed chase through Lamar, Missouri. It happened on November 12th, 2018, around 7:40 a.m. The deputy first saw the vehicle near O Highway and 160 west of Lamar. The deputy then saw the vehicle travel east on 160 until it reached the substation by Barton County Electric where it then turned and went back west on 160 highway.
