Central Missouri tops MIAA Preseason Baseball Poll

Press Release MIAA Conference: 

Central Missouri has been picked atop the MIAA preseasonbaseball poll taking 12 of 14 possible first place votes. UCM went 36-13 lastseason and advanced to the NCAA Central Regional.

Missouri Western, took one first place vote and is picked second in thisseason's poll after winning the regular season crown last year. MWSU went 40-12and joined Central Missouri in the Central Regional. Central Oklahoma alsoreceived a first place vote and comes in just five points behind MWSU in thepoll. UCO went 34-22 in 2013 and advanced to the MIAA Tournament in KansasCity, Kan.

MIAA Tournament Champion Missouri Southern has been picked along with EmporiaState in the fourth spot in the polls. MSSU went 23-16 in league play and wonthe league title to advance to the Central Regional. Emporia State went 27-22last season falling to UCO in the first round of the MIAA Tournament.

Pittsburg State has been picked to finish sixth after upsetting UCM in the MIAAtournament last year to advance to Kansas City, Kan. Lindenwood has been pickedto finish seventh just four points ahead of Northeastern State who was slottedin the eighth spot.

Fort Hays State has been picked to finish ninth with Nebraska-Kearney picked inthe tenth slot in this season's poll. Northwest Missouri is picked in 11thoverall in this season's poll.

Washburn earns the 12th spot coming in just three points ahead of SouthwestBaptist who has been picked in 13th place. Lincoln rounds out the poll thisseason in the 14th spot.

Four MIAA teams are scheduled to get underway this weekend with other teamshitting the field in the upcoming weeks with MIAA play slated to begin on Feb.20th.
