Joplin music store loans instruments to Riverton students who had theirs stolen at Holiday Bowl

Updated:

NEWS RELEASE ISSUED JANUARY 30, 2014 BY ERNIE WILLIAMSON MUSIC

JOPLIN, MO, January 31, 2014 – The Riverton, Kansas students who had the opportunity to play the Holiday Bowl late last December in San Diego, California came home two saxophones short and were left unsure as to what the rest of the year held in store.

Two students had their saxophones stolen from the school bus the evening prior their performance, and through generous lenders were able to perform the Holiday Bowl; however, they were left without an instrument to play for upcoming games, shows and events at home.

As the students await insurance reimbursement from the hotel, Ernie Williamson Music representative, Gene Adam began the footwork to make sure the students had instruments to play in the meantime.

“You never know how long it might take to get all the paperwork thought for the insurance claim,” said Gene Adam. “We have been a long-time supporter of the Riverton High Band Department, and knew right away we needed to do what we could to help.”

Adam said the saxophones were loaned to the school at no charge, and were valued at $1200 each.
