Republican Leaders Strategize in Joplin React to Nixon Budget

Republicans  rally in Joplin and  strategize for the next legislative year.
The annual Lincoln Days dinner of Newton and Jasper counties draws in state and local leaders.

Missouri State Auditor Tom Schweich and State Senator Ron Richard were featured speakers.
Lawmakers discussed key issues of the republican party and offered their thoughts on Governor  Jay Nixon's budget proposal.
Speaker of the House Tim Jones and State Senator Kurt Shaefer say there are some obstacles to Nixon's proposal.

Jones says, "We have a good fiscal foundation here in our state, but our job creation under Governor Nixon has really lagged behind."

While Sen. Shaefer says, "This is our chance  really to go around to various parts of the state and talk to constituents directly about what they want to see in that state budget and about what's realistic in the governor's speech and what he proposes in his budget, and what's not."
