PSU Students Get Leadership Lessons

Updated:

Students at Pittsburg  State University are taking steps to improve their leadership skills.
Juniors in the Presidential Emerging Leadership program hosted a free leadership conference today.
About 150 students came to hear a motivational message from life coach Sylvia Hall and attend  break-out sessions covering promotion, intercultural communication, resumes, graduate school, and servant leadership.
Organizers say it's a great opportunity for students to connect with their college administrators too. Coordinator Elle Walker says, "Learning these leadership skills and it also helps with networking because a lot of the people that we have do the presentations are already PSU staff or faculty, and so if you can come out and show them that you're interested, you can talk to them one on one and get more of your questions answered from higher up administration that you might not always be able to get a meeting with."Sophomores who attended this year will coordinate next year's conference-- beginning with planning in august.
