Gorillas Wrap Up Action @ Lions Invitational


JOPLIN - Pittsburg State University men's and women's indoor track & field athletes wrapped up day two action at the MSSU Lions Invitational Saturday (Feb. 1).

In the men's competition, Jeff Piepenbrink captured the meet title in the pole vault with a winning clearance of 17 feet, 1 inch. The national leader in the discipline, Piepenbrink finished a half-inch off his school record mark of 17-1.5.

Bo Farrow (51-10.5), Cody Holland (51-2.25) and Garrett Appier (50-11) finished third, fourth and fifth in the shot put, while Marquise Cushon placed second overall, tops among collegians, in the triple jump (48-4.75).

Adam Volkert placed third in the mile run (4:15.05), while Jordan Peters finished second in the 800 meters (1:55.65).

In the women's action, Heather Glenn placed fifth overall, second among collegians, in the pole vault with a clearance of 12-3.5, improving her national qualifying mark as well as her the top mark in the MIAA in the discipline to date.

Ramie Grayson placed third in the 60 meters (7.77).
