Special Olympics Polar Plunge & Strut this Saturday!

Special Olympics Polar Plunge & Strut this Saturday!

Pittsburg, KS – Here's a guaranteed way to laugh, warm your spirits and break the winter blahs: Head out to the Crimson Villas Apartment Complex this Saturday, February 8, for the Polar Bear Plunge & 5K Strut.

This hilarious and heartwarming event is held to benefit Special Olympics Kansas athletes. The public is encouraged to attend and cheer on the crazy bears.

The 5K Strut begins at 9:30 AM, and the Plunge will start at noon.

Participants and spectators can start the day with a hearty breakfast special for $5 -- scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, toast or biscuits/gravy -- at Chatter’s beginning at 7:30 AM; half of sales go to the Polar Plunge.

Then, warm up at the second-annual chili cook-off immediately following the Plunge at the First Church of the Nazarene. Tickets are $3 at the door; plungers eat free. The public is welcome.

The First Church of the Nazarene is located at 816 E. Quincy Street, and Crimson Villas is at 1904 S. Rouse Street.

To register or learn more about the plunge, log on to www.ksso.org/pittsburg. Early registration is Friday, February 7th at Crimson Villas from 4:00 – 7:00 PM; walk-up registrations will be accepted.
