PRESS RELEASE FROM MCDONALD COUNTY SHERIFF:

On February 4, 2014 at approximately 12:16p.m. Noel Marshalls' Office pursued a vehicle that was failing to stop north on State Highway 59.  Noel Marshalls' Office lost contact with the vehicle south of Lanagan.

Shortly after the Noel Marshall lost contact with the vehicle the McDonald County Sheriff Office received a report of a vehicle that was stolen from Shady Beach Camp Ground located between Noel and Lanagan on State Highway 59.  The vehicle stolen from Shady Beach Campground was a Ford F-250 pickup.

A short period after the Shady Beach truck was stolen the vehicle the Noel Marshalls' Office was pursuing was located abandoned at a residence just south of Shady Beach Campground.  It was discovered that the stolen Shady Beach Campground truck traveled toward Oklahoma through the Tiff City Area.  McDonald County Sheriff Mike Hall located the stolen Shady Beach truck at a convenience store located on Highway 10 in Oklahoma.  When Sheriff Hall attempted to make contact with the male suspect in the stolen truck, the male suspect fled in the stolen truck, striking Sheriff Hall's vehicle, causing extensive damage to Sheriff Hall's vehicle.  The suspect was pursued in the stolen truck in Oklahoma. At one point in the Oklahoma pursuit shots were fired by deputies, at the tires of the truck, in an attempt to disable the stolen truck.  Deputies lost contact with the stolen Shady Beach Campground truck in Oklahoma.

A short time period after deputies lost contact with the stolen Shady Beach Campground truck, McDonald County Deputies were dispatched to The Smoke Shop located on Route O in Missouri at the Missouri / Oklahoma state line in reference to a robbery in progress.  A male suspect entered the store, armed with a handgun, demanded the clerk give him money from the cash register, barricade the store clerk in a bathroom, and left the store with an unknown amount of money from the cash register. The male suspect managed to ascertain the store clerks vehicle keys and stolen the store clerks passenger car that was parked outside beside the store.

A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper located the store clerk's stolen passenger car and pursued the stolen passenger car into Southwest City Missouri.  The male suspect attempted to hide behind a residence in Southwest City and was taken into custody.

The stolen Shady Beach Campground truck was later located abounded at a residence near The Smoke Shop.

No injuries were reported from the events that occurred.
