The Pittsburg State baseball team's opening weekend series with Oklahoma Christian University originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday (Feb. 7-8) at Edmond, Okla., has been postponed due to the weather.
The Gorillas and the Eagles are hopeful to reschedule the three-game series next week but the specific days and times are TBD.
The Gorillas return six position players with 30 or more starts in 2013 as well two members of the squad's starting pitching rotation. In all, Pitt State welcomes back 18 letterwinners from last year's team that posted a 29-24 record and advanced to the Final Four of the MIAA Postseason Tournament.
Oklahoma Christian is coming off a successful 2013 campaign where the Eagles advanced to the NCCAA World Series. OCU notched a 26-26 record on the year and claimed its first regional title since 1972. The Eagles are in their second year as a member of the Heartland Conference making the transition to NCAA Division II.
