NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY NORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA A&M COLLEGE

President's Partners program donates $4,000 to NEO13 News

Miami, Oklahoma – Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014 – The mass communications department at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO), has taken a massive leap in the past year and a half with the NEO13 News class that was previously just a club on campus only one year ago. The President's Partners program at NEO donated $4,000 to NEO13. With this generous and much-needed donation, the class has been able to expand greatly with new equipment.

"NEO13 has come a long way. When it first started, it was nothing more than a club with six dedicated students who wanted to put the idea of a campus news show into motion. With that dedication, and the production of three episodes, the club was able to become a one hour class in the fall of 2013. The class number grew to eight people, and the show became a hit to the college and Facebook community," said Katie Dewey, NEO13 sponsor.

Under the direction of David Frazier, who specializes in video production, there is now a three-hour class with almost 20 students. With his leadership and talent, Frazier has grown the program significantly.

The combination of funding from President's Partners and Frazier's direction has given them the tools to create high quality productions. Improvements including audio, lighting, composition, and video editing have all contributed to attracting more students and generating excitement within the program.

"I consider it an honor to be part of the resurgence of the mass communications program at NEO. There are some incredibly talented students who are eager to work on productions together," Frazier said. "These are exciting times at NEO, and it wouldn't have happened without the determination of students who were interested in the program and the support from Dr. Hale and the President's Partners. I look forward to seeing what we create collectively."

President's Partners saw a passionate group of students on camera and invested in their program. Without their generosity, NEO13 would not be where it is today.
