MIAA baseball moves into season's third week

Press Release MIAA Conference: 

Teams will be hopingthe weather holds to get in games as MIAA baseball moves into the third week ofthe season.

#19 Central Missouri waits for league play to come
Record: 3-4, 0-0 MIAA 
Team Stats: Batting Average .198, ERA 3.21
#19 Central Missouri will take the week off before league play begins as theysit at 3-4 on the year. At the plate Trevor Jones is hitting .333 with sevenruns scored, five runs driven in and five stolen bases. On the mound JakeHeissler is 1-1 with a 1.93 earned run average in two starts.

Central Oklahoma scheduled to open at home
Record: 0-0, 0-0 MIAA 
Team Stats: Batting Average .296, ERA 5.30
Central Oklahoma is scheduled to host Arkansas Fort Smith in their seasonopener this weekend. At the plate last season Cesar Wong hit .358 with a .435on base percentage and Matt Johnson hit .315 with 10 home runs and 50 runsbatted in. On the mound Mason Justice was 5-2 with a 4.73 earned run average insix starts.
 
Emporia State waits for next scheduled contest
Record: 0-0, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats: Batting Average .290, ERA 4.66
Emporia State had their season opening series cancelled with their nextscheduled game on Feb. 19 at Newman. Last season at the plate Todd Schultz hit.319 with 21 runs driven in and eight doubles. On the mound Kevin Shaffer went3-3 with a 2.89 ERA while Dakota McKaskle went 6-5 with a 3.39 ERA in 11starts.

Fort Hays State heads for Texas to open season
Record: 0-0, 0-0 MIAA 
Team Stats: Batting Average .341, ERA 6.70 
Fort Hays State will open their season this weekend at A&M International.At the plate last season Jordan Miller hit .390 with 13 stolen bases and HoraceJohnson hit .336 with nine home runs and 34 RBI. On the mound Nathan Briar was1-1 with a 7.66 ERA in 13 appearances.

Lincoln opens the season at home
Record: 0-0, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats: Batting Average .273, ERA 9.19   
Lincoln's first scheduled action is Feb. 21 when league play begins. At theplate last season Ben Stewart hit .361 with four home runs and 21 RBI. JoeJungmeyer was 2-2 with a 5.76 earned run average on the mound last season.

Lindenwood readies for home opener
Record: 2-0, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats: Batting Average .270, ERA 1.12
Lindenwood will face Augustana in their home opener this weekend. At the plateWade Rothermich is hitting .625 with two runs scored and one driven in. On themound Austin Klein won his first start going four innings with a 4.50 ERA andfive strikeouts.

Missouri Southern waits for season opener on Feb. 15-16
Record: 0-0, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats: Batting Average .298, ERA 4.34    
Missouri Southern opens their season Feb. 15-16 at home againstMinnesota-Crookston. At the plate last season Tee Helsel hit .294 with 32 runsdriven in. On the mound Payton Walker was 6-5 with a 3.50 earned run average innine starts.

#17 Missouri Western waits for league play
Record: 1-1, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats: Batting Average .279, ERA 3.71
#17 Missouri Western will wait until league play rolls around after going 1-1to open the season. At the plate Ryan Degner hit .500 with a home run and threeruns scored. On the mound Mason Queen picked up the teams lone win in relief.

Nebraska-Kearney opens the season with four wins
Record: 4-0, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats: Batting Average .330, ERA 3.57   
Nebraska-Kearney is scheduled to continue play on Feb. 21 when league playbegins. Dillon Schroeder and Anthony Pacheco each drove in six runs the openingweekend. On the mound Logan Willard is 1-0 allowing just three hits and no runsover seven innings.

Northeastern State opens season on Feb. 13
Record: 0-0, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats: Batting Average .309, ERA 6.50
Northeastern State is scheduled to open their season at Harding on Feb. 13. Atthe plate Cody Robinson hit .308 with 16 home runs and 56 runs batted in. Onthe mound Kyle Shambaugh was 4-2 with a  4.73 earned run average in tenstarts.

Northwest Missouri faces Cameron this weekend
Record: 1-1, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats: Batting Average .281, ERA 3.46 
After going 1-1 to open the year, Northwest Missouri will face Cameron thisweekend.  At the plate Blake Hardegree is hitting .400 with five runsdriven in. On the mound Kole Kocko is 1-0 after pitching one inning of relief.

Pittsburg State opens season in Oklahoma Feb. 14
Record: 0-0, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats:  Batting Average .312, ERA 5.26  
Pittsburg State are scheduled to travel to Oklahoma Christian thisweekend.  At the plate last season Brad Foss hit .379 with 39 runs scored.On the mound George Brandecker was 6-4 with a 3.27 earned run average in 11starts.

Southwest Baptist waits for Feb. 17 to play first game
Record: 0-0, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats:  Batting Average .282, ERA 6.58   
Southwest Baptist opens the season at home Feb. 17 against Minnesota-StateMankato. At the plate Spencer Blacksher hit .349 with six home runs and 38 RBI.On the mound Cole Roark was 3-2 with a 6.54 earned run average.

Washburn waits for league play to come around
Record: 0-0, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats:  Batting Average .280, ERA 7.79  
Washburn will wait for league play to come around on Feb. 21 to begin theirseason. At the plate last season Riley Price hit .370 with 32 RBI and 21 runsscored. On the mound Taylor Gentry was 3-2 with a 4.20 earned run average.
