Baxter Springs man charged with child sex crimes

NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE BAXTER SPRINGS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Paul Dwain Johnson, 60, was arrested Wednesday the 12th by the Baxter Springs Police Department. Officers with the Baxter Springs Police Department and Agents with the K.B.I. began an investigation on Johnson following allegations of Indecent liberties with a child. A search warrant was also conducted of Johnson's home where items were seized as evidence.

Cherokee County Attorney Nathan Coleman filed formal charges Friday afternoon on Johnson. Johnson is being held on: / 10 counts of Aggravated Indecent liberties / 3 counts of Indecent liberties / Criminal Sodomy / Indecent Solicitation of a Child.

Johnson's bail is set at $500,000.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
