Southern Mississippi's Brown to Transfer to Pitt State for 2014 - KOAM TV 7

Southern Mississippi's Brown to Transfer to Pitt State for 2014 Season

Updated:

Press Release PSU:

Vincent Brown, an offensive tackle who exhausted his NCAA Division I eligibility at the University Southern Mississippi, will transfer to Pittsburg State University and join the Gorillas for the 2014 season.

Brown (6-6, 330) will have senior eligibility at Pitt State next fall. The Miami, Fla., native suffered a season-ending knee injury in the Golden Eagles' season opener against Texas State on Aug. 31. He started five games for USM in 2012 and saw reserve action as a sophomore in 2011.

Brown earned second-team All-Northeast Football Conference honors as a freshman at the ASA Institute in New York City in 2010.

He earned Florida All-Star honors as a senior at Monsignor Pace High School in 2008, helping the Spartans to an 11-3 record. Brown was ranked a three-star offensive lineman by Rivals.com.

"We are excited to have Vincent Brown join our football team for the 2014 season," head coach Tim Beck said. "Vincent is a talented offensive tackle and we felt like that was a position where we have an immediate need with the loss of our two-time All-American Cody Holland to graduation."
