Charges filed in death of McDonald County 4-month-old

Updated February 20, 2014 - Tyler Waeltz is now charged with Abuse of Child Resulting in Death, a Class A felony, in the death of a four month old in McDonald County.

If convicted, Waeltz could be sentenced to not less than 10 years and not to exceed 30 years or life in prison.

Posted February 19, 2014 - NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE OFFICE OF MCDONALD COUNTY SHERIFF MICHAEL HALL

On 02-17-2014 McDonald County E911 dispatched Fire/EMS to 1868 Bear Hollow Road in reference to a 4 month old that was not breathing and not responsive. Deputies also responded along with Fire/EMS.

Once on scene deputies realized there was something more due to bruising and marks on the child. Deputies called for additional investigators and Chief Deputy Roark and Investigator Barrett responded down to the hospital while other deputies worked the scene.

The child was taken to Mercy Hospital in Rogers and then flown to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. The child is currently in ICU and is still in serious condition.

The suspect, Tyler Waeltz dob/03-01-1994 in the case is currently in the McDonald County Detention Center with charges filed of:

1st degree Assault

Child Abuse

1st Degree Child Endangerment

These charges will be upgraded as we have just found out that the baby passed away today at approximately 1:35pm at the Arkansas Childrens Hospital.

    Joplin Police received a call about an armed robbery on Sunday just before 10:00 p.m. (April 22, 2018). An employee at Charlie's Chicken (2020E. 32nd Street) says she locked the business up and was walking to her vehicle when a male walked up to her in the parking lot.
