The league series begin as MIAA baseball move into the third week of the season.

#29 Central Missouri to open league play at home 
Record: 3-4, 0-0 MIAA 
Team Stats: Batting Average .198, ERA 3.21
#29 Central Missouri is scheduled to begin league play at home against Southwest Baptist. At the plate Trevor Jones is hitting .333 with a .452 on-base percentage, he has five runs driven in and has stolen five bases. Jake Heissler is 1-1 on the mound with a 1.93 earned run average and Zach Davis is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in nine innings out of the bullpen.

Central Oklahoma begins league play on the road
Record: 4-0, 0-0 MIAA 
Team Stats: Batting Average .439, ERA 2.53
Central Oklahoma will travel to Emporia State to begin league play. At the plate Cesar Wong is hitting .538 with five runs driven in and Phillip Wilson is hitting .786 with eight runs scored. On the mound both Ricky Reeves and Landon Hallam are 1-0 with a 1.50 earned run average in six innings pitched.
 
Emporia State opens league play at home
Record: 3-1, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats: Batting Average .356, ERA 5.30
Emporia State will begin league play at home against Central Oklahoma. At the plate Levi Parker is hitting .471 with four stolen bases and Dean Long is hitting .412 with one home run and five runs driven in. On the mound Garrett Bane is 2-1 out of the bullpen with a 3.00 earned run average

Fort Hays State begin MIAA play at home
Record: 1-2, 0-0 MIAA 
Team Stats: Batting Average .347, ERA 5.70 
Fort Hays State is scheduled to start things off in league play at home against PSU. At the plate Horace Johnson is hitting .545 with three runs driven in. On the mound Nick Hammeke is 1-0 out of the bullpen this season.

Lincoln opens league play at home
Record: 0-2, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats: Batting Average .211, ERA 6.42   
Lincoln is scheduled to begin league play at home against MSSU. At the plate Caleb Davis is hitting .500 with a run scored and a run driven in. On the mound Ian Fuemmler pitched two innings of relief and has a 3.50 earned run average.

Lindenwood hits the road to start MIAA play 
Record: 2-3, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats: Batting Average .291, ERA 4.95
Lindenwood will travel to Washburn to begin their league season. At the plate Wade Rothermich is hitting .545 with seven runs scored and Nathan Prindle has drive in five runs. On the mound Brendan Kleekamp is 1-1 out of the bullpen.

Missouri Southern begins MIAA play on the road
Record: 4-0, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats: Batting Average .398, ERA 1.12     
Missouri Southern are scheduled to begin league play on the road at Lincoln. At the plate Brandon Weller is hitting .544 with five runs driven in and seven runs scored. On the mound Ryan Bates is 1-0 allowing just four hits in five innings of work.

Missouri Western to host Northeastern State
Record: 2-3, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats: Batting Average .246, ERA 5.08
Missouri Western will host Northeastern State to open league play. At the plate David Chew is hitting .400 with five RBI and Ryan Degner has three home runs and six runs batted in. On the mound Mason Queen is 2-0 in 7.2 innings out of the bullpen.

Nebraska-Kearney begins league play at neutral site
Record: 6-1, 0-0 MIAA

Nebraska-Kearney will begin MIAA play at a neutral site against Northwest Missouri. At the plate Anthony Pacheco is hitting .556 with 10 RBI and Dillon Schroeder has 10 runs scored and 10 RBI. MIAA/AstroTurf Pitcher of the Week Adam Peters is 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA.

Northeastern State hits the road to open league play

Team Stats: Batting Average .250, ERA 4.80
Northeastern State will open league play on the road at Missouri Western. MIAA/AstroTurf Hitter of the Week Cody Robinson is hitting .500 with two home runs and five RBI. On the mound Kyle Schambaugh is 1-0 after pitching 5.1 inning of scoreless baseball.

Northwest Missouri hits the road to start league play 
Record: 3-3, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats: Batting Average .274, ERA 4.40
Northwest Missouri is scheduled to begin league play at a neutral site against Nebraska-Kearney. At the plate Brandon Huske is hitting .476 with six runs driven in. On the mound Brian Schmiedt is 1-0 in three innings out of the bullpen.

Pittsburg State heads to Hays
Record: 1-2, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats:  Batting Average .259, ERA 3.86  
Pittsburg State is slated to begin MIAA play at Fort Hays State. At the plate Evan Thomas is hitting .400 with three runs scored and two stolen bases. On the mound Nathan Arnold is 1-0 with 6.0 innings pitched and seven strikeouts.

Southwest Baptist heads to #29 Central Missouri
Record: 0-2, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats:  Batting Average .250, ERA 5.62
Southwest Baptist will travel to #29 Central Missouri to begin league play. At the plate Drew Miller is hitting .500 with a run scored. On the mound Cory Bush has pitched 3.1 innings of scoreless relief.

Washburn waits for league play to come around
Record: 0-0, 0-0 MIAA
Team Stats:  Batting Average .280, ERA 7.79  
Washburn will wait for league play to come around on Feb. 21 to begin their season. At the plate last season Riley Price hit .370 with 32 RBI and 21 runs scored. On the mound Taylor Gentry was 3-2 with a 4.20 earned run average.

    Suspect in Galena Arson Pleads Guilty

    A Galena, Kansas man pleads guilty to two arsons from the spring and summer. Ronny Ray Piercefield admits that he set a grass fire on North Jefferson Street in Galena in March. That fire eventually engulfed a small structure. Piercefield also pleaded guilty to setting a fire that engulfed 68 bales of hay in rural Cherokee County, Kansas in July of 2018.     The Pittsburg Police Department is searching for a suspect in a weekend shooting. Police say Eric James Cravey is wanted in the Saturday shooting that injured Vanessa Rae McWhirt-Martin of Chetopa, KS. Authorities say McWhirt was a passenger in a black "Dodge Nitro" driven by Cravey. They say witnesses say she got out of the SUV during an argument with Cravey and was shot with a handgun.  McWhirt was taken to the hospital for emergency surgery. At last repo...More >>
