Interfaith Panel Discusses Marriage in different cultures

Updated:

A panel of church leaders from various faiths discuss hard hitting topics when it comes to marriage at a discussion session.

Leaders from the Islamic, Christian , Jewish and Baha'I faiths presented a panel discussion on the views of marriage and family as both are defined by their religions.

The main topic of discussion was marriage, and what constitutes the relationship between man and woman.

Many audience members discussed the idea of homosexuality, and what religions define it as acceptable. Others asked when it is acceptable to end marriage, and if divorce is considered as a sin.

Since beliefs vary, leaders say these panel discussions are important because the community not only gains understanding of different cultures, but also learns to accept those differences

"When we do these things, the Christians are Christians. The Hebrew people, the Judaism, they are strong in their faith. And the Muslims are strong in their faith and the Baha'I representative is strong in theirs. Both on the panel and in the audience." says Craig Tully, Sr. Minister of First Community Church in Joplin.
