Joplin Area Habitat for Humanity awarded $60,000 grant

Updated:

The Joplin Area Habitat For Humanity will soon help more Joplin families find homes.

On Tuesday the Community Foundation of Southwest Missouri awarded the organization with a $60,000 Joplin Recovery Fund Grant.

The grant will help Habitat build two more homes in the ongoing effort to get all Joplin families back into permanent housing, nearly three years after the 2011 tornado.

"Along with that construction of those homes comes the funding that it takes to do that and Community Foundation of Southwest Missouri has been a huge help to us to where we can build houses and we can have a restore," says Scott Clayton, the Executive Director for the Joplin Area Habitat for Humanity.

"It's such a pleasure to be able to connect the points of and help all the regrowth," says Stephanie Howard, the Chair of CFSWMO.

To date more than $3.8 million in grants have been awarded from the Joplin Recovery Fund to area non-profits to help Joplin residents recover, and rebuild.
