Oklahoma prosecutor drops murder charge against Four-State man
John Lee Weeks
An Oklahoma prosecutor says he's dismissing a murder charge against an Arkansas man.
The charge against 47-year-old John Lee Weeks, formerly of Gentry, Ark., was dropped after Delaware County District Attorney Eddie Wyant said he's been convinced there is reasonable doubt Weeks committed the murder.
Weeks was charged in May 2011 with the first degree murder of 29-year-old Barbara Ann Willard, who was last seen June 17, 1996.
Her vehicle was found days later. Willard's remains have never been found, but evidence leading authorities to believe she was murdered turned up in her vehicle.
Authorities say Weeks will be returned to Kansas where he is serving a 50 year sentence for kidnapping, rape and sexual assault convictions.
