Branch Earns Third-Team All-MIAA Honors

Pittsburg State University junior guard Devon Branch was named to the third-team All-MIAA squad Tuesday (Mar. 4).

Branch averaged a team-leading 20.7 points and 5.3 rebounds in 23 games for the Gorillas. He finished the season ranked second in the MIAA in scoring and 17th in the conference in rebounding.

The Aberdeen, Md., native also ranked 14th in the league in field goal percentage, making 164 of 325 shots (.505). He also dished out 71 assists, averaging 3.1 helpers per game and ranking 14th in the league in that category.

Branch earned MIAA Player of the Week honors Monday, after averaging 26.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game in the Gorillas match-ups against Emporia State and Washburn. He scored a career-high 34 points in Pitt State's 92-90 overtime loss to the Ichabods last Saturday (Mar. 1).

Branch played two seasons at Cloud Country Community College, before transferring to Pitt State from the University of Oregon.
