Pittsburg State junior pitcher Sam Grove has been named the AstroTurf MIAA Pitcher of the Week the league office announced Tuesday (March 4).
The Rising Sun, Md. native added three wins in three complete games to her resume this week, as she earned wins over Rogers State, Wayne State and Sioux Falls, including an extra inning win over Wayne State. Grove pitched 22.0 innings, giving up only 16 hits and holding opponents to a .190 batting average. She gave up only eight runs, only four of which were earned.
This is the second player or pitcher of the week nod for the Gorillas this season, as Brown won the hitter of the week award last week.
Pitt State is schedule to play a non-conference doubleheader against Missouri Southern in Joplin, Mo. on Saturday.
