Fire crews battle large barn fire near Asbury

Several area fire crews in Jasper County, MO worked together Wednesday night to battle flames at a large barn fire.

Crews in Asbury were called out to a structure fire at 3103 Thyme Rd. shortly after 9:30 PM. Upon arrival, firefighters found a large commercial turkey barn to be fully engulfed.

Additional crews were called in from Carl Junction, with more than 20 fire personnel responding the the scene.

Officials with the Asbury Fire Department say the fire was brought under control within about 15 minutes.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

    John Mitchell owns Big Daddy's Barbeque, less than a mile off of the Highway 125 bridge over the Neosho River. Its repeatedly flooded bridge approach puts a damper on his business.     The Missouri Highway Patrol investigates a fatal shooting involving a Neosho police officer. A preliminary autopsy is complete on the man shot and killed this morning.  The coroner and highway patrol  identify  the man as 52 year old Joshua D. Daniels from Tulsa, Oklahoma.
