Miracle League of Joplin opens Player Registration for 2014 Spring Season

Joplin, Mo, -- The Miracle League of Joplin is pleased to announce that registration is now open for individuals wishing to play Miracle League baseball this Spring. The season will kick off on Saturday, May 3rd, and will run for six weeks. Games will be played each Saturday morning at the fully-accessible, custom-built Will Norton Miracle Field, located at the Joplin Athletic Complex.

Any child with disabilities, ages 5 to 20 years old will be eligible to play Miracle League baseball. In games, every player bats once each inning, all players are safe on the bases and every player scores a run. In addition, Buddies are provided for each player. Buddies are volunteers that work one-on-one with each player and help them bat, catch the ball and round the bases.

“We are very excited to get back on the Field,” stated Cameo Harrington, Public Relations Chairperson for the Miracle League of Joplin. “Our Inaugural season was a great success and we’re anxious to get the kids out and playing again! We’ve reduced the registration price to $25 a season and we do offer some scholarships to help allow more kids to play.”

The $25 player registration cost includes a personalized team shirt and baseball cap. Players can register online at JoplinMiracleLeague.org.

The Miracle League of Joplin is also recruiting individual volunteers and groups to help as Buddies for each game. Those interested in volunteering can register at JoplinMiracleLeague.org.
