MIAA Women's Basketball Championship Preview

Central Missouri and Emporia State will play in the MIAA Championship game scheduled for 1 p.m. on March 9 from Municipal Auditorium.


#1 Central Missouri vs. #2 Emporia State  
For the second straight season Central Missouri and Emporia State will face off in the MIAA Women’s Basketball Championship game. In last season’s championship game Emporia State came away with a 67-51 victory.

The two met during the regular season as Emporia State emerged from the match-up of then the #3 and #6 teams in the country with an 80-67 victory. For the Lady Hornets in that game Desiree Wylie had a double-double scoring 12 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Both Laura Patrick and Amber Vandiver finished that game with 16 points. BreAnna Lewis led the Jennies in the game played Jan. 11 with 22 total poings. Keuna Flax finished the night with 19 points and five rebounds.

Overall on the season the Jennies are led by MIAA Player of the Year Flax who is averaging 20.1 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. BreAnna Lewis is averaging 14.0 points and Shelby Winkelmann is averaging 10.9 points while on the glass Revonnia Howard is averaging 8.9 rebounds per game.

Overall on the year Laura Patrick is leading the way averaging 14.0 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Merissa Quick is averaging 12.1 points and 7.2 rebounds and on the glass Desiree Wylie is averaging 7.4 rebounds per contest.

The winner of the game will earn the MIAA’s automatic bid into the NCAA post-season tournament.

The game can be seen on the MIAA Television Network
