Safety Tips for Spring Breakers

Many students across the country will head to popular beach front destinations for spring break week.

Students at Pittsburg State University are receiving tips and reminders Monday, before the week without classes begin.

PSU student prevention & wellness coordinator J.T. Knoll says students will receive a kit with tips, recommendations, sunscreen and a condom.

"We talk about do the gorilla thing which means don't be a bystander for yourself or other people," said Knoll.

Signs are on display throughout the university campus - with tips on staying safe while traveling. Knoll gives students traveling to spring break destinations three reminders.

1. Don't text and drive

2. Hydrate if consuming alcohol

3. Stay together in new environments

Pittsburg State and Missouri Southern State University Spring Breaks begin March 17, 2014. Classes will resume March 24, 2014
