Softball's Rynard Named MIAA AstroTurf Hitter of the Week


For her outstanding performance in Pitt State's doubleheader sweep of Missouri Southern on Friday (March 7), Pitt State junior McKenzie Rynard has been named the MIAA AstroTurf Hitter of the Week. 

Rynard hit .714 (5-7) over the two games with two runs scored, two RBI, a double and a sacrifice fly. 

Rynard, a native of Raymore, Mo., served as the designated player in both games. She had a hit in her first three at bats of the doubleheader, going 3-for-4 in the first game. She had a RBI single in the first inning to hit in the first run of the game. She scored a run herself in a three-run third for the Gorillas.

In game two, Rynard went 2-for-3 with a sacrifice fly. She reached base safely in three of her four plate appearabces. He sacrifice fly in the third inning brought home the game-winning run in the 10-3 win. She also added a double in the fifth.

McKenzie is the daughter of Andy Rynard and Robin Rynard. She is a psychology major.
