Stark City Fire Department hosts its biggest fundraiser

Stark City saw one of its biggest fundraisers of the year today, all for the volunteer fire department.
The annual chili supper and auction was held at the fire station.
The event attracted residents of all ages, who in exchange for donations received a wide variety of hearty stews and desserts.
The Stark City Fire Department runs primarily on donations to fund its everyday operations, insurance, equipment and fuel.
This event dates back to the 1970's.
Fire Chief James Palmer says it's something the town enjoys every year.
"It's a tradition that has been going on for a long time," Palmer said.  "It's a good chance to catch up with your neighbors and to just come together as a community."
The department is also looking to gain support from voters in August to allow the Stark City volunteer department to join forces with the Fairview volunteer department to create the Midway Fire Protection District, which would serve about 65 square miles in Newton County.
If you would like to make a donation to the Stark City Fire Department, you can send it directly to the department at P.O. Box 91, Stark City, MO, 64866.
