Infant death investigation underway in McDonald County

FROM THE MCDONALD COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

On March 16th of this year deputies with the McDonald County Sheriff’s Department along with officers from the Lanagan Police dept. responded to a residence located on Main Street.

When officers arrived Freeman ambulance personnel had already transported a two month old female infant to a local hospital. The child was pronounced dead at the hospital, after further investigation it was found that the mother of the child had a child about the same age pass away under suspicious manner.

While conducting the interview with the mother she admitted that she was breast feeding the child and fell asleep when she woke up she found the baby wasn’t breathing the mother then placed the baby in the bassinet by the bed. And then woke her husband up and called 911

There was two other children in the home they were removed and placed in foster care.

No names are being released at this time due to the investigation is ongoing.
