Third Thursday Returns to Joplin

Updated:
Spring fever takes over downtown Joplin, as hundreds flock to main street for Third Thursday.
"This year we've expanded to 17 art galleries, 4 live stages and a lot of other bands, thousands of people. We're really excited." says Downtown Alliance of Joplin Executive Director, Trisha Patton.
The event features an art walk, live entertainment, kids events and plenty food venues.
"I just want to see what's going on, what's happening, they have face paint, lemonade, pinwheels. They have anything you can think of." says Joplin Residents, Henry, Megan & Ellie Meeker.
"It's a lot of fun. It's a great time for the family to get together and enjoy the weather and their community." says resident, Latisha Lavallee alongside her family.
"I think its kind of neat to run into people that you know and that you haven't seen for awhile, and visit with them." say Alice & Carl Brown, who attended their first Third Thursday event.
Each year the event tries to add something different, which is something organizers say keeps the crowds coming back. And this year's focus is art.
"with artists consistently showing and changing those exhibits, we see a very large increase in business as well as building rehabilitation." Patton explains.
As for the future...some residents we spoke with have some suggestions.
Alex Anderson would like to see "more like what the town used to be like back in the day."
"I'd like to see a little bit more activities for the entire family to enjoy. Not just for the little kids or something like that." Lavallee explains.
The Meeker children all agree on one thing..."Bounce house!!"
"All you need is to keep the weather the way it is right now and you'll have plenty of people down here!" Alice & Carl Brown say.

The next Third Thursday will take place on April 17th.
