Softball Run Ruled by Missouri-St. Louis

Updated:
PRESS RELEASE PSU:

The Pittsburg State softball team was plagued by errors in a 9-1, six inning loss to Missouri-St. Louis on Wednesday (March 26) at the PSU Softball Complex.

The Tritons scored nine runs on seven hits and six Pittsburg State errors. The Gorillas scored their run on four hits and one Missouri-St. Louis error.

UMSL scored first in the top of the first on a hit and two errors, plating two runs to go up 2-0. Strong pitching by Sam Grove for the Gorillas prevented any further runs from scoring until the fourth, when two hits and two more errors made the score 5-0.

Pitt State scored its lone run in the bottom of the fourth on a one-out solo home run by McKenzie Rynard.

The Tritons added three more runs on a hit and two errors in the fifth and scored the final run in the sixth on three hits.

Sam Grove took the loss for the Gorillas. Only one of the nine runs she gave up was earned. She struck out three batters and walked three batters.

Rynard led the Gorillas offense with a 2-for-3 performance including her home run. Tiffany Brown added a double and Nicole Nease had a base hit.

Pitt State returns to conference action this weekend. The team will take on Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, Mo. at 2 and 4 p.m., then head to St. Joseph, Mo. to meet up with the Missouri Western Griffons at noon and 2 p.m.

Although these students are too young to vote, they're plenty old enough to care about issues our country is facing today. "Ever since Parkland happened, the shooting at Park Land. I've always had this mentality, like it can happen here" Erie High School sophomore, Matthew Inman attended the Pittsburg March For Our Lives rally, and one of the leaders encouraged people from all congressional districts to hold town hall meetings, the spirit of activism was contagious.
