Old Rockin' K Restaurant to hold huge antique auction

In 1976 the Rockin' K in Mulbery, KS was rocking with business.
Fast forward to 2013, the restaurant and museum known for it's steak and ribs closes to the public.

"The way the economy is, it just got too hard to operate - and steak prices are too high," said co-owner of the Rockin' K Steve Kuplen.

Kuplen's mother and father purchased the building in the 60's.
The 10,000 plus sq. ft. structure use to be a grade school for students in the Cockrill School District.

Today a different picture most the rooms are filled with antiques from the 1800's and the years following.
Kuplen says he grew up watching his mother collect the relics.

"That was her passion to collect this stuff she's 83 years old, and she's probably been collecting 65 years," said Kuplen.

Most of the items will go up for sale during a four-day auction.
Jon Predaux has 35 years of experience in the business and says this auction will be one of a kind.

"This is the kind of sell an auctioneer would hold in his memory a lot longer than other sales," said Preduaux.

Preduax says most of the items are high quality - and each tells a story.

"There's ties to a lot of the small towns.

The preview of the items will be held March 28th beginning at 11 a.m. at the Rockin K.
