Updated:
The local food movement got an educational boost at the first annual Southeast Kansas Regional Farmers Market Vendor Workshop.

K-State Research and Extension teamed up with the Pittsburg Farmers Market and County Farm Bureau to offer vendors information for growing, marketing and selling their products. Various sessions focused on good agricultural practices, food safety, best display practices and more. Organizing official said the overall goal was to produce a market that offers the highest quality local products.

"To make sure that the foods that consumers are eating are safe, are healthy and that people know where their foods coming from," said Gayle Price of K-State Research and Extension.
