Pittsburg - The Pittsburg State University football team will open its 2014 spring drills Tuesday (Apr. 1). The Gorillas will have a total of 15 practice days, culminating with their annual Spring Game on Apr. 26.
Pitt State will open practice at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday and follow with practices at the same time Wednesday and Thursday (Apr. 2-3). Pitt State will conclude spring drills with the Spring Game on Apr. 26 at 10 a.m. at Brandenburg Field/Carnie Smith Stadium.
Head coach Tim Beck and his coaching staff will welcome approximately 110 players into spring camp. The Gorillas return 18 players (9 offense, 9 defense) who started five or more games in 2013.
"There's no question the players, and our coaching staff, are eager to get on the practice field," Beck said. "The spring is a great time for our coaching staff to evaluate our players and where we are at as a team. It's also the perfect time for players to take it upon themselves to hone their skills as well as step up and become great leaders for the 2014 season."
