Pittsburg - The Pittsburg State University women's outdoor track & field team notched four individual event winners in the season opening Wendy's/PSU Invitational Saturday (Mar. 29) at Prentice Gudgen Track.
Emilyn Dearman opened the day in strong fashion with a victory in the heptathlon. She compiled 4,917 points in the multi-events to rank third in NCAA Division II on the national qualifiers list.
D'Andria Blow added a victory in the discus throw, heaving the implement 140 feet, 4 inches.
On the track, Casey Epps raced to victory in the 1,500 meters in 4 minutes, 41.54 seconds, while Hannah DeVries won the 5,000 meters in 17:45.63.
Among other notable performances, Heather Glenn placed second overall - tops among collegians - in the pole vault with a PQ clearance of 12-0.5. Amber Kloster also picked up a PQ mark in the javelin with a second-place throw of 144-5.
Darien Stancell also placed second in the hammer throw (159-4). Deja Snell finished third in the triple jump (36-11.75) and Cassie Caswell placed third in the shot put (43-8).
