NEWS RELEASE FROM THE CITY OF JOPLIN

Review and prioritization of future transportation projects on JATSO agenda

There will be a special public meeting of the Joplin Area Transportation Study Organization (JATSO) Policy Board on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 1:30 P.M. at the Joplin City Hall Basement Conference Room, 602 South Main Street, Joplin, Missouri. Items that will be discussed include the review and prioritization of future transportation projects in the JATSO area.

The Transportation Prioritization Process will begin with a discussion of projects that have been submitted for prioritization and will conclude with board members prioritizing transportation projects by mode, including air, bike/pedestrian, freight and transit. Road/bridge/highway projects were prioritized at the March 24, 2014 meeting. This meeting will conclude the local process. The top projects from each mode will be submitted to the Missouri Department of Transportation’s (MoDOT’s) Southwest District for review and prioritization among other transportation projects in Southwest Missouri.

This public notice, public involvement activities, and time established for public review and comments on the TIP will satisfy the FTA Section 5307 Program of Projects requirements for Metro Area Publictransit System (MAPS).
