Skylar Hill tossed seven-plus shutout innings as Missouri Southern State University blanked Pittsburg State University, 3-0, Tuesday (Apr. 1) in a non-confernce match-up at Al Ortolani Field.
The Lions (19-12) posted their fifth straight win in the contest as Hill (3-0) and closer Stephen Vaughn combined on a six-hitter of the Gorillas (13-18), who dropped their fifth straight decision.
Logan Moon led off the fourth inning with a triple for Southern and scored on Axel Johnson's sinking single past shortstop Derek Hackney. Johnson eventually came around to score on Robbe Ewing's base hit.
Hill scattered six hits and three walks in 7 2/3 innings of work, before turning the ball over to Vaughn for the final four outs.
Brad Foss collected two of the Gorillas six hits in the contest.
Pitt State will return to action Friday when the Gorillas open a four-game MIAA series at home against Southwest Baptist University.
