Onlookers impede traffic for emergency responders

Updated:

FROM THE CITY OF PARSONS

PARSONS, KS — The Parsons Fire Department and Police Departments are reminding residents to avoid areas during emergency events. In the past few weeks, curious motorists and onlookers have created street congestion and excess traffic on the streets.

As Fire Chief Larry Steeby described explained, “It is really becoming a big problem of getting our fire engines down some of these streets with all the traffic and congestion. I’m real sure if it were your property you would like us to get there as soon as possible.”

He went on to say that while curiosity can be real hard to overcome, stop and remember those effected by the emergency. “They are having the worst day of their lives, and onlookers are creating additional delays, which does not help them at all,” Steeby added.

The City of Parsons encourages its residents to avoid being part of these problems, and allow our emergency service workers to do their jobs effectively.
