Press Release Oklahoma State University:

Dressed in full pads, the Oklahoma State football team held its 12th practice of spring ball Monday at the Sherman E. Smith Training Facility. After the approximately two hour-long session, coach Mike Gundy shared his thoughts. His comments:

Coach Mike Gundy

On practice:

“We had a good practice today. We extended them somewhat and we had a physical practice. We had some young players make some plays, so I thought today was productive.”

On the Orange Blitz:
“Most people thought it went really well. If we were going to critique ourselves – less individual period, maybe 10 minutes instead of what would be 30 – but they liked the seven-on; they liked the inside drill. It gave them a chance to see some players compete that wouldn’t really get the chance to compete in a live drill. I’m looking forward to next year, to really creating a game day atmosphere, tied in with the combine atmosphere. We’ll have our new media station done here. We’ll be able to show live video and a live mic. We didn’t have that capability this year. They’re going to be finished with our new media center, so we would like to have a practice or part of a practice and then we can have interviews on the field, maybe with players as its going on talk about things; coaches, have some seven-on and then have a spring game. I think we’ll do some things next year that will be a little bit unique. There may even be some people around now that carry a live mic on the field like we did. I don’t know that anybody else has ever done that before. We’re going to try to do some new things in the future and make it interesting for the fans.”

On what he wants to focus on during the last week of spring practice:
“Same things. Young players get in there and compete. We’ve got a few guys that are banged up. We’ll have to finish with some more younger players. We’ll get them in and compete and try to find out what they can do, because those guys will have to help us during the season next year.”
