Since prom season is here the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is educating area students on the dangers of drunk driving.
Wednesday was "Safe Day" at Riverton High School. Students participated in an interactive exercise, learning about the risks involved with drinking and driving from those who see it first hand.
"It lets them see a little more hands on and hear from emergency service provider who are out there working those types of car crashes," says Cherokee County Sheriff David Groves.
Columbus High School will host a "mock car crash" on Friday with the help of the sheriff's office.
