Aegis Announces 150 New Jobs Now and More to Come Later

Updated:
Joplin, MO - Aegis announces jobs for one hundred and fifty  people at its Joplin customer contact center. But the employment opportunities may not end there.

Operations manager Mark Hefley oversees one hundred  of  the Aegis four hundred employees at the Joplin customer contact center. He says the company's plan to add one hundred and fifty more workers shows it’s growing in the right direction.

Hefley says, “Absolutely, it’s really  important to know these are full time jobs that are not going to go away. And that along with that come the benefits with being able to have your vacation and your insurance and all holiday pay.”

Chamber of Commerce President Rob O'Brian says, “These jobs start at a good base rate but there are also with some of the jobs, the  opportunity for bonus potential.  All have a level of benefits.”

While its 150 jobs now, officials say they plan to grow the company to more than 600 workers possibly even expanding the building itself. And they say one of the best parts of the job for workers is the opportunity for advancement.

Aegis recruiter, Josh Friend says, “We've had several people move up, not just start out as agents but move up into management. Ninety-nine percent of all our positions are filled internally.”

Mark Hefley is a perfect example. Hefley says, “I started working overnights and with my previous work history, my management experience, I moved up to be a supervisor. And, um,  after about two  years, I was promoted to an operations manager over a campaign.”

Aegis is partnering with the Workforce Investment Board to fill the positions available, including help with job training and transportation.

Troy Roland with the WIB says, “If you're listening to my voice and you've been on unemployment long term or short term there’s an opportunity for you to potentially qualify for this extra help to get you back on your feet, get you the training you  need to meet the qualifications for a great fun company like Aegis.”

Roland says that means improving the pool of workers for Aegis and Joplin as a whole.

Those interested in jobs should first apply Aegis and those in need of training will be referred to career centers to connect with the Workforce Investment Board to become a certified work ready applicant.
