Air assault training at Camp Crowder

Updated:

A lot of ups and downs Thursday at Camp Crowder outside of Neosho, Missouri.

A couple of military helicopters were brought in to allow students to rappel from the choppers.

Instructors from a mobile training team are here from Fort Benning, Georgia to conduct the training exercises.

"It's pretty intense," says student Kyle Elledge.  "You're adrenaline gets going and then you get to the ground and you're like 'yeah, that's awesome'".

"It is very cool because a lot of people can't get this opportunity and this is one opportunity that the United States Army gives to the National Guard so it is a great experience for us," says student Brandon Jones.

About 135 students are participating in the Air Assault course at at Camp Crowder.
