Reed Sets School Record in 6th Annual David Suenram Gorilla Classic

Pittsburg - Antqunita Reed won a pair of events, including a school record breaking performance in one discipline, to lead the Pittsburg State University women's outdoor track & field team to a solid day's work in the Sixth Annual David Suenram Gorilla Classic.

Reed, also an All-MIAA member of the Pitt State women's basketball team, broke the Prentice Gudgen Track record as well as the Pitt State outdoor mark in the triple jump with a winning mark of 41 feet, 6.5 inches. Her mark is unofficially the fourth-best in NCAA Division II this season. She also raced to victory in the 100 meters in 12.00 seconds, also a provisional qualifying mark.

In all, the Gorillas posted seven NCAA qualifying marks on the day.

Heather Glenn placed second in the pole vault, tops among collegians, with a clearance of 12-4.5. Darien Stancell placed second in the hammer throw with a qualifying mark of 166-1, while Aimi Orton finished second in the javelin throw with a qualifying mark of 143-8.

Emilyn Dearman added a qualifier with a second-place finish in the 400 meter hurdles (1:01.95) and Cassie Caswell completed the qualifying list with a third-place heave of 44-11.5 in the shot put.

Additional noteworthy performances included Jessica Macy's second-place finish in the 1,500 meters (4:46.39). Casey Epps also finished third in the race in 4:48.67. Jessica Cisneros also placed third in the javelin (128-0).
