A meeting was held in Joplin today to discuss a developer's proposal to establish a TIF district along Range Line at 44th Street. The developer wants to use taxes generated by development at the location to repay costs of managing a wetland area in order to make a a portion of the property useable. The developer wants to build a hospitality district that would include both retail and offices.
The TIF district proposal includes:
- 59 acres south of the Microtel Inn and Social Security building
- 91 acres that includes Silver Creek Galleria
- 9 acres that includes the AT&T Call Center
