Tree planting at MSSU

Earth Day was celebrated Tuesday on the Missouri Southern campus.  The university's Biology Club hosted a tree planting event.

Six-different species of seedling trees are now part of the campus near the biology pond and along Turkey Creek.

"Planting something like a tree that's going to grow for a hundred years, that's something that is a great example of what we can leave behind," says Teresa Boman of the Department of Biology & Environmental Health.  "You can even pass that knowledge on to your children, 'I planted this tree on Earth Day.'"

The club planted around 80 trees during Tuesday's event.
