Razorback Mens Golf Announces Starting Lineup For SEC Championship

With just three days left until the start of the 2014 SEC Championship, the No. 19 Arkansas men’s golf team announced its five-man starting lineup that will take on the Sea Island Golf Club’s Seaside Course beginning on Friday.


For the second straight event, the Razorbacks will use the lineup of senior Sebastian Cappelen, sophomore Taylor Moore, redshirt sophomore Kolton Crawford, sophomore Nicolas Echavarria and redshirt freshman Zach Coats. The lineup has a combined five appearances at the SEC Championship, led by reigning SEC Individual Champion Cappelen, who will make his fourth straight trip to the conference tournament.

One of eight ranked teams in the SEC, Arkansas will start Friday’s first round at 7:20 a.m. CT, playing alongside Texas A&M and LSU. The grouping will go off the course’s first tee. Sebastian Cappelen (Sr.)

Ø  Reigning SEC Individual Champion with a 54-hole record 202.

Ø  Career scoring average of 70.3 at the SEC Championship (9 RDs).

Ø  Ranked No. 20 by Golfstat and No. 22 by Golfweek.

Ø  Counting score in 29 of 30 rounds, including 14 under-par.

Ø  Finished in the top 20 in eight of 10 events.

Taylor Moore (So.)

Ø  Will make second straight SEC Championship start.

Ø  Team leader with five top 10s, including three in the spring.

Ø  Team low-man in four of five spring events (71.9 average).

Ø  Turned in 26 counting scores and 12 par or lower rounds.

Ø  2013 Co-SEC Freshman of the Year.

Kolton Crawford (R-So.)

Ø  Will make second SEC Championship start (2012).

Ø  One of three players to start all 10 events.

Ø  Turned in a counting score in 26 of 30 rounds.

Ø  Shot par or lower in five of last 12 rounds.

Ø  Final round six-under 65 at the Valspar Invite is a team-best.

Nicolas Echavarria (So.)

Ø  Will make his first SEC Championship appearance.

Ø  Started all five spring events and six straight overall.

Ø  Has at least two counting scores in five of last six events.

Ø  Sports a scoring average of 74.9.

Ø  2013 PING All-America Honorable Mention.

Zach Coats (R-Fr.)

Ø  Will make his first SEC Championship appearance.

Ø  Extends streak to eight straight years with a freshman at SECs.

Ø  Made first collegiate start last time out at the Aggie Invitational.

Ø  Turned in a pair of counting scores at the Aggie Invite.

Ø  Played as an individual at the Gator Invitational.

    The Fort Scott Police Department has found a body believed to be that of 74-year-old Edith Hawkins. Police say they were called to S. Clark Street around 1:05 this afternoon (Oct. 16, 2018) in reference to a missing person. Authorities were told that Hawkins left her home earlier in the day around 10:00 a.m. and had not been seen since. Family members told police that she suffered from Alzheimer's.     The two bridges over Spring River and Spring River Overflow on SH-10 closed in November of 2017. The bridges, located about five miles east of the I-44 Will Rogers Turnpike, were built in 1952 and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation says they were found to be structurally deficient in 2017. ODOT estimated the project cost was around $11 million. The bridges reopened on October 15th, 2018. ODOT says about 4,200 drivers used them every day before they closed....More >>
