3M to expand and add jobs in Nevada, Mo.

Global manufacturer 3M is expanding and adding jobs in southwest Missouri.  Governor Jay Nixon made the announcement Wednesday at the facility in Nevada.

3M opened the plant in 1971.  It specializes in manufacturing commercial graphics for buildings and semi-trucks.

The $18.7 million expansion project includes purchasing a new state of the art coder machine.

22 new jobs will be created from the expansion, most of which will be hourly operator positions for the new technology.

Hiring won't begin until the end of this year.

The plant currently employs 639 workers.

3M is based out of Saint Paul, Minnesota and operates in more than 70 countries.
