NEWS RELEASE FROM NORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA A&M COLLEGE

Miami, Okla. – Friday, April 25, 2014 –Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO), hosted NEO History Day. Based on the group’s thorough research and informative presentation of the history of the National Security Agency, NEO faculty members awarded Will Roger Middle School students, Alex Walls, Abbie Osborn, Eli Chenoweth, and sponsor, Richard Patterson, the Grieshaber Award.

Their presentation, “Big Brother and Body Searches: Security Post 9-11 America,” contained organized and cunning information on national security, earning the students to qualify in the state History Day event in May in Oklahoma City.

“All three of these young people were very impressive with their knowledge of security issues,” said Dr. Jeff Birdsong, social sciences department chair. “It’s great to see students interested not only in history, but in making sure they have quality research as well.”

If the group finishes first in their category at the Oklahoma City competition, they will advance to the national competition in Washington, D.C. to compete.
