JACS silent auction to fund operating expenses of schools

Updated:
Tonight is the biggest fundraiser of the year for Joplin Area Catholic Schools.
All proceeds from the 18th annual JACS community  auction will help fund the operating expenses of the schools this year.
Most of the items were donated.
Some in the live auction include a large TV, dining room table, Chiefs tickets and travel packets, such as a trip to Montana.
There are also several sections in a silent auction including sports, home decor, art and jewelry.
Organizers say  all are welcome, but it's also a great networking opportunity.
"What's great about it is it's a party actually," said DJ Bertoncino, School Board President and volunteer. "It's an auction and a party, it's one of the best parties of the year for the Catholic Schools system. Everybody comes out, you get to see people you haven't seen in a while."
The auction began at 5:30 and lasts tonight until around 10 pm.
It's being held at the Jack Lawton Webb Convention Center and admission is $25 a person and includes dinner.
