Carthage man killed in Sunday evening crash

The Missouri Highway Patrol says a pickup attempting a left turn pulled into the path of an oncoming motorcycle Sunday evening, killing a Carthage man.

MHP says the crash occurred at Jackpine, 4 miles west of Carthage.

The driver of the motorcycle, Christopher D. Sloniker, 34 of Carthage, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger of the motorcycle was life-flighted to a Joplin hospital and was last reported to be in serious condition.

The driver of the pickup was taken to a Joplin hospital with minor injuries.  A passenger in the pickup was taken to a Carthage hospital with serious injuries.
