Franklin Tech students learning how to use robots to help in recovery efforts

Students at Franklin Technology Center in Joplin are learning about recovery efforts with robots.

It's all part of "The Robo Challenge".

Teams of students competed Tuesday in creating mobile robots that would essentially help first responders find survivors, following a disaster or dangerous situation.

"Robots are designed to do things that some humans can not do, like building cars at a faster rate and going in and scouting out an area for a local SWAT team," says engineering student Tony Banks.

Each winner from Tuesday's contest was awarded with a trophy and a gift card to Subway.
