Carthage Crisis Center gives away free furniture and appliances

Updated:
The Carthage Crisis Center gave away big items for the home in their Furniture and Appliance Distribution today.
People started lining up at 6:00 a.m. to call dibs on 3 items per family, choosing from a wide variety of couches, beds and tables.
Anyone in need of furniture was invited to attend, including house fire victims.
About 50 volunteers helped with loading the items into people's vehicles.
All the furniture and appliances were donated by the community.
"They're really wonderful," said Terena Owens, Sarcoxie resident.  "If it wasn't for them, a lot of people wouldn't have anything."
"I talked with a lady earlier today, she's got nothing and she needs something to sit on and something to sleep on and so we're going to provide that for her," said Brian Bisbee, Executive Director of the Carthage Crisis Center.

The Carthage Crisis Center, located at 100 S. Main Street, gives out furniture and appliances to families in need every week.
Those who would like assistance can call the center at 417-358-3533.
